Position Summary:
Assume full responsibility for complex projects in the development and implementation of methods and programs to ensure that company product lines meet customer expectations and Revcor requirements.
Investigate, establish, and implement requirements for inspection and testing methods, techniques, equipment, and facilities. Work with manufacturing supervision, engineering functions, and Purchasing to ensure specification requirements are met, processes are controlled, and variation reduced. Investigate and recommend improvements to product designs, gauging, and manufacturing methods. Direct the activities of one or two employees in lower classifications, to include training, assigning, and checking work.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Eight years of professional experience in quality working with ISO9001, corrective action, process improvement, suppliers, customers, metal fabrication, assembly processes, injection molding, PPAP, project management, and gauging with a bachelor’s or higher degree in quality, engineering science or a related field. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
Skills:
Knowledge of:
- Quality assurance practices, processes, and procedures.
- Statistics: capability studies, Cpk/Ppk, DOE, gauge R&R, SPC, sampling plans and ability to evaluate & explain the results.
- ISO9001: training, document writing, implementation and internal auditing.
- Corrective & Preventive Action including 8D root cause analysis and implementation.
- Manufacturing support for continual improvement.
- Supplier Quality programs.
- Reliability program requirements.
- Materials and testing requirements.
- Gauge design.
- Quality reporting.
- Project Management.
- Product testing standards, PPAP, FMEA and Control Plans.
- Six Sigma & Lean manufacturing.
Requirements:
- When necessary, travel for company business.
- May handle or come in contact with company and customer confidential information.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.
- May supervise 1 or 2 employees.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Perform Regression Analysis (linear and non-linear).
- Communicate orally in the English language with other employees, customers and suppliers.
- Ability to lead or work as a part of a team.
- CMM operation knowledge including GD&T.
- Use a personal computer and related software to perform required actions.
- Make arithmetical & statistical computations.
- Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper English sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
- Plan and organize own workload based upon priorities.
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Main activities:
- Recommends actions to the head of the Quality department.
- Takes full responsibility for specific Quality functions such as Internal Audit program, corrective action system, or other named functions.
- Mentors and supports other Quality Engineers.
Writes or reviews technical and performance specifications, ISO documents, sampling plans, and inspections requirements. - Designs, evaluates and writes statistical analysis reports on the results of capability studies, SPC, DOE, gauge R&R, sampling plans, and other statistical test methods using appropriate software.
- Initiates, participates in and reviews 8D corrective and preventive actions including root cause analysis and implementation plans.
- Works with customers to interpret PPAP requirements, then creates, reviews, and assembles the required PPAP documents for customer submission.
- Develops, reviews, and approves pFMEA, dFMEA, control plans and process maps (flow charting).
- Reviews new, revised, or repaired tooling inspections for Quality approval.
- Reviews receiving inspections of materials, certificates of compliance, and test reports to determine compliance to requirements.
- Develops, documents, and provides training to other employees.
- Investigates internal and external non-conforming products and issues, establishes containment, and makes disposition recommendations.
- Demonstrates continual improvement efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly with staff and other departments.
- Creates and maintains accurate records.
